The computer is smarter than the VCR.

When I woke up this morning my clock said 8 AM.

I went downstairs and turned on Meet the Press.

I looked at the VCR and it said it was 7:04 AM.

"What?"

I walked in the kitchen.

The microwave said 8:04. The oven said 8:04.

I shrugged it off.

Earlier tonight I was at my parents.

The microwave said 7:15. The oven said 7:15.

The VCR said 6:15.

I thought I was in the Twilight Zone.

I walked into my Dad's study.

HIs VCR said 6:15.

"Why do all the VCRs think it's an hour earlier?" I asked.

Ah ha! It occurred to both of us at the same time. They moved Daylight Savings back a week this year. The VCRs were on auto time-set but were uninformed about the change. I checked the computer and the computer knew what was up. I watched my dad try to manually change the time on the VCR twice. The stubborn machine would have none of his nonsense and kept switching the time back.

ummm... why did your dad's VCR say 6:15? That was like 2 hours behind..

I was at my parents house in the PM -- not to be confused with 11 hours earlier at MY home in the AM.

Um, when are we supposed to move our clocks back? That hasn't happened yet, has it?

Thanks for the warning.

By the way, it is time to get rid of the VCR. It is just screaming "outdated appliance."

I'm so glad you were confused as well. My phone apparently wasn't smart enough and actually switchedd back and hour.I would've though my handy blackberry was smarter than that. Apparently not, but my computer was.

People have been having problems with Black-berry's and I had an issue with my XM-radio.

Bizzare-o.

Oh well, we lose sleep on this one any way . . . right?

I can't wait for the time the VCR shows teeth and starts biting and chase you around. That's what out of date appliances do right?

I enjoyed sleeping in cuz my blkberry switched prematurely. And I am glad it did because last day light savings time I went to church an hour early -twice! (long story) So sleeping in twice is going to be awesome!

it's amazing how much we rely on time. but
i can self adjust to the malfunctions of the outdated equipment. And even disfunctional equipment. Since we bought our car in April 2006- with accurate time, it has slowly jumped ahead to being 12 minutes fast. But I just automatcially do the math and know that when i get into the Subaru, I have an extra 12 minutes. But by this time next year, it could be 27 minutes fast. And that math is just too complicated. So I may just change it. But will take some adjustment on my part.
